Substrates
S308 Wet Area has excellent adhesion properties over most common building surfaces including: Concrete, Masonry, Glass, Aluminium, Galvanised Steel, Wood, Ceramics, Most painted and powder coated surfaces, Some Plastics. Important: It is always suggested to conduct "PreAdhesion" tests on substrates to ensure an adequate bond is achieved. Contact Turbo Building Group for advice on suitability over surfaces not mentioned above.
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from loose particles, dust, oils, rust, and any contaminants that may inhibit adhesion of the sealant. Where oils may be present, clean the surface using a non- oil-based solvent cleaner. Avoid cutting or scratching powder-coated surfaces as oxidization will quickly contaminate the mating surfaces. Some powder coats are heavily plasticized and may require light scouring using a scouring pad to remove/dull the burnished surface to promote adhesion. An adhesion promoter may also be required. Contact Turbo Building Group for advice if unsure.
Application
Cut nozzle at a 45° angle based on required bead size. Cut nub on the cartridge and screw on nozzle. Insert the cartridge into the caulking gun. Hold the caulking gun at a 45° angle with the nozzle in contact with both sides of the joint. Apply by dispensing the silicone ahead of the nozzle, pushing it firmly into the joint and against joint surfaces to ensure positive surface face adhesion. Tool off sealant to a concave profile before skin forms using a mild soapy solution or proprietary tooling solution. Tooling will assist by securing the sealant into the joint and eliminate air bubbles and air pockets behind the sealant. Remove excess sealant immediately with a cloth dampened with mineral turpentine or suitable solvent.
Clean Up
Excess sealant can be removed immediately with a cloth dampened with mineral turpentine or suitable solvent. Cured sealant can be removed by trimming with a sharp blade.
Packaging
300ml cartridges
Storage/Shelf Life
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Best stored in conditions under 28°C. Shelf life is 12 months from date of manufacture when stored in accordance with above recommendations.
Limitations
Not recommended for fully submerged joints. In aquarium applications use silikön 200 acetic cure sealant. For certain rubber and some plastic products, bleeding of plasticisers may occur. Contact RLA Technical Department for advice on application over these surfaces if unsure. Do not apply when surface or ambient temperatures are below 5°C or above 40°C.
Health And Safety
For information and advice on the safe handling, first aid, storage and disposal of chemical products, users must refer to the most recent Safety Data Sheet (SDS) containing physical, ecological, toxicological and other safety-related data.
