Specification
The solvent based silicone sealer shall not change the appearance of the substrate and be able to reduce water absorption by 93% and stop carbonation of concrete and sulphate attack such as Natural Sealer manufactured by Construction Chemicals and shall be applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s application instructions.
Surface Preparation
Surfaces to be coated must be absorbent, sound, clean and free of oil, grease, efflorescence and other contaminants. Completely remove previous coatings and do not apply to non-absorbent surfaces. The surface can be wet but ponding water must be removed. New concrete should be cured for 28 days. To check the suitability of a sealer, apply a test area before commencing. Not suitable for slate.
Application
Apply by brush, long nap roller or low pressure spray (35-100kPa). Work Natural Sealer into surface irregularities and apply liberally. Apply two coats for normal application, however three coats may be required for very porous surfaces. Recoat time is 2-3 hours at 20°C. When recoating after areas have been in use for some time scrub area with detergent and a stiff broom to remove dirt and grease and hose down with clean water and let dry before recoating. On very porous surfaces application should be repeated until the surface is saturated. Do not let excess sealer dry on the surface. Remove sealer that has not penetrated after 5 minutes with a dry cloth.
Solvent: XYLENE or equivalent.
