Specification
The non-slip membrane shall be a water based acrylic and have a minimum elongation of 350% and a tensile strength of 1.97N/mm2 and a slip resistance of not less than 0.4 (AS3661.1) such as Deckgrip manufactured by Construction Chemicals and shall be applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s application instructions.
Surface Preparation
Surfaces must be free from dirt, oil, grease, loose paint and other contaminants.
Apply only to firm sound surfaces.
Previously Painted Surfaces -
should be sanded to remove flaky
paint and abrade surface.
Rusty Steel - remove rust with a wire brush
and apply a rust inhibitor to affected areas. Exposed steel to be primed with a metal primer.
Fibreglass & Aluminium - should be roughened with coarse grit sand paper.
Timber - prime with a timber primer.
Concrete Surfaces - Mechanically abrade smooth concrete then wash thoroughly and allow to dry.
Fill holes, cracks and joints with a crack filling compound or jointing compound, e.g. Patch
& Anchor. Prime the surface with Deckgrip Primer when the surface is dry to get good penetration into the substrate.
Application
Apply with a brush or paint roller. Apply at a rate of 1m2 per litre/2 coats. Apply one coat for normal use and two coats for heavy duty applications. Allow 3-4 hours between coats.
Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C.
Allow to dry for 24 hours before light use and
72 hours for normal use.
Damaged Areas
After washing areas with a detergent solution. Wash with clean water and allow to dry before recoating.
Shelf Life
When stored in the original, unopened packaging, in a dry place @ 23°C @ 50% relative humidity, the product has a 12 month shelf life.
